How do Monkey De-Funky Bananas work?
They use a natural blend of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and bamboo charcoal to eliminate odours at the source, not just cover them up with heavy perfumes. Scented versions add a light, clean fragrance you’ll enjoy; the unscented option leaves nothing behind but freshness. Just toss one in each dry shoe, and let it work overnight.
How long do they last?
With proper care, 6–12 months. Every 4–6 weeks, recharge them in direct sunlight for 6–8 hours to release trapped moisture and reactivate. Never microwave or wash.
Why choose De-Funkers over spray deodorisers?
Most sprays mask odours temporarily and come in single-use aerosol cans. Monkey De-Funky is reusable, refill-free, and creates no single-use waste or chemical residue. One pair replaces dozens of sprays.
Can I use them in wet or damp shoes?
No! Always use in dry shoes only. Dampness can cause the soda to migrate and leave white residue.
What if I see white residue on my shoes?
This usually means the De-Funker was used in damp conditions. The residue is harmless sodium bicarbonate, but it signals it’s time to replace the unit. Always store in the original ziplock bag when not in use.
Are the scents “natural”?
We use fragrance oils to deliver consistent, long-lasting scent experiences (Lavender, Sandalwood, Lemon). The Unscented version contains no added fragrance, ideal for sensitive users or those who prefer to add their own essential oils.
Can I add my own scent?
Yes! The Unscented version is perfect for adding 2–3 drops of your favourite essential oil.
Is it safe around kids and pets?
Keep out of reach of children and pets. Not a toy. If swallowed, seek medical help immediately. The carabiner is for convenience only and not rated for climbing.
What’s the carabiner for?
The lightweight carabiner lets you clip your De-Funkers together for storage, or secure them inside your shoes or gear bag so they don’t fall out, especially useful for climbing shoes, ski boots, or motorcycle gear.
